After surprising everyone by winning the Miss Israel pageant, Gal Gadot, known for her role as “Wonder Woman,” went on to represent her country in the Miss Universe competition. Rather than aiming for victory, Gal decided to have some fun and purposely tried to lose points. Looking back on the experience in a recent interview with Vanity Fair, she fondly remembered putting on a strong local accent and pretending to not speak English when judge Paula Abdul asked her questions. Gal laughingly admitted, “I did everything I could to mess up my chances of winning the crown!”

Gal Gadot decided to step out of her comfort zone and participated in the Miss Universe competition in 2004. However, during a conversation with Jimmy Kimmel later on, she confessed that the life of a beauty queen wasn’t really her cup of tea. At the age of 18, she entered the Miss Israel pageant for the thrill of being flown to Europe and to have a quirky story to share with her future descendants. Despite her striking appearance, Gal didn’t always have confidence in her own beauty. In a throwback post on Instagram, she even wondered why she was chosen as Miss Israel.Following the pageant, Gal opted for a different path and served in the Israeli Defense Forces for two years as a combat instructor. While she studied Law and International Relations with aspirations of becoming a lawyer, her talent for acting was too hard to ignore. She made appearances in various TV shows in Israel before trying out for a role in a James Bond movie in 2008. Although she didn’t land the part, Gal’s dedication to enhancing her acting skills brought her back to Hollywood, where she eventually secured a role in Fast and Furious 5.Gal’s breakthrough moment arrived when she took on the iconic role of Wonder Woman, capturing the hearts of audiences worldwide. The success of the 2017 Wonder Woman movie, raking in over $800 million, launched her to stardom almost overnight. She was subsequently offered $10 million for the sequel, a significant increase from the $300,000 she earned for the first film.
